A good friend of mine from college came to visit me in DC this weekend, and we had the best time exploring fun parts of the city together. We went out to dinner on Friday night at Masa 14, one of my favorite spots, and a restaurant that I particularly enjoy because it is Latin-Asian fusion, and I'm a Latin-Asian fusion myself : ) We went out that night to Barcelona, a new bar in town, and ended up at Pearl Dive Oyster Palace, another one of my favorite spots on 14th street. The next day we had a great brunch at Le Diplomate - I had been trying to eat there for months and kept having really bad luck until Saturday! Great timing! And so delicious. The atmosphere is amazing, I get the same feeling stepping into it as I do when I step into Anthropologie - like I totally stepped into a dream world of all perfect things that fit perfectly within the setting. After brunch, we strolled 14th and stopped by a few boutiques, and then ended up at the window bar at Ghibellina. The drawing above is of their delicious "Duomo" - what they refer to as a Tuscan margarita. Whatever it is, it is totally delicious, beautiful, and refreshing, and we had the greatest time chatting away the afternoon there and people watching. We took a nap after that, ordered Chinese for dinner, and then went out again that night - woof! On Sunday, we wandered around Georgetown and had brunch at Founding Farmers. A great weekend all around!
